๐Ÿ”Š What Is Sound and How Do We Hear?

Have you ever heard music, birds chirping, or someone calling your name? Thatโ€™s sound! Letโ€™s learn how sound works and how we hear it.

๐ŸŽต What Is Sound?

Sound is a type of energy that we can hear.
It is made when things vibrate (move back and forth very fast). For example, when you clap your hands, you create sound!

๐ŸŒŠ How Sound Travels

Sound travels in waves through air, water, or solids.
These sound waves move from one place to another until they reach our ears.

๐Ÿ‘‚ How Do We Hear?

We hear sound using our ears. Hereโ€™s how it works:

  1. Sound waves enter the ear
  2. They make the eardrum vibrate
  3. The vibrations travel inside the ear
  4. The brain understands these vibrations as sound

๐Ÿ”” Loud and Soft Sounds

  • Loud sounds: drum, thunder
  • Soft sounds: whisper, rustling leaves

๐ŸŽถ High and Low Sounds

  • High-pitched sounds: whistle, bird chirping
  • Low-pitched sounds: drum, lion roar

๐Ÿ”‡ When There Is No Sound

Sound needs a medium (like air) to travel.
In space, there is no air, so we cannot hear sounds!

Dolphins use sound to communicate with each other underwater!
